FAQ

Why do you need a birth photographer?

Well, the truth is...you don't. You want one. Just like you wanted a photographer for your wedding. Someone there to capture one of the most amazing days of your life.

Sure, you can have your friend take some pictures, or even your spouse. But how are they supposed to snap the pictures that tell your birth story when they're supposed to be in them?

What if my labor is long? Will you be there the entire time?

6 hours, 18 hours, 2 days..I am with you. I may take a break in my car or the hospital waiting room, but but I will be there to shoot your birth.

I am on call for you starting at 38 weeks up until you give birth and will be available via text or call. I ask to be notified once labor has begins so that I can arrange my day. I arrive during active labor (5-6 cm), and document labor, delivery and the first moments of you and your baby together.

Will my images be graphic?

How graphic your images are is completely up to you. You decide what you are comfortable with me documenting. Of course I love all things birth and want all the details, but ultimately, this is your birth and your vision.

We will discuss your vision during our consultation and I will answer any questions you have.

What if you miss the birth?

I will do my very best to get to your birth no matter when you call.

I am on call for your birth starting at 38 weeks and stay on call until you deliver. During this time, I stay within an hour of my home. My schedule revolves around my service to you.

If I miss your birth due to illness and I can not find a back-up, you will receive a full refund. If I miss your birth due to a faster than usual delivery, meaning I arrive within the 2 hour window after I am called and you have already given birth, I will continue to shoot postpartum and offer you a fresh 48 or lifestyle newborn session.

When should I book my birth session?

As soon as you decide you want a birth photographer. I offer a limited number of births each month. Booking early ensures you get your due date on my calendar and also gives your plenty of time to pay for your package through payment plan options.

Even if you are later in your pregnancy and decide you want a birth photographer, ALWAYS reach out. Sometimes there is availability on short notice.
