What is a this is us session?
Unlike a lifestyle session, I am with you for 4 hours. This session allows me to freeze time and tell the story of your everyday life.
You will go about your day as you normally do and it is my job to capture your story without any prompts or posing. This allows families to be comfortable and almost forget the camera is even there.
I will arrive in comfortable clothes as sometimes I may be rolling around on the grass, standing up in chairs, and sometimes up close, documenting your day as it unfolds. I want you to be comfortable in your clothes, too! Let the kids pick their outfits if they normally do. These sessions are all about you and your personality!
I will talk with you and your family just as I would if I were with friends and my family. No forced smiles, but lots of laughs and fun!
How will we prepare for this session?
Before your session, I will send you a questionnaire asking about your family's interests and what a typical day may look like for you. It may be your love for baking cookies, working in the garden, or running around the yard in the sprinklers. Whatever it is, through these questions, something always stands out.
I typically suggest we do one of these activities and let the family decide on another activity.
How will I get my images?
Instead of providing you with your images first, you will receive a 10x8 heirloom album. I will wait until the album is delivered and then send your online gallery.
By delivering the album first, families are able to focus more on the story than scroll overwhelmingly through 200+ images.
Am I supposed to clean my house for this session?
You can if you want to, or you can not. These pictures aren't to impress social media with your spotless kitchens and not played in, playrooms. These sessions are a keepsake for your children to have for years to come.
When looking back at pictures, its not matching outfits or the dishes in the sink that your kids are going to notice. They won't look back and care how you or the house looked. What they will care about are the connections and memories they can look back on and cherish for a lifetime.
